Data is Power: Consumer Insights Driving the Cold Chain Market

Todd Hale
Principal, Todd Hale, LLC; Former Senior Vice President, The Nielsen Company for Consumer & Shopper Insights
Opening General Session | Sunday, April 23 | 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Consumers’ preferences are constantly evolving, driving the production of certain products and the elimination of others. The CPG and retail industries would be nowhere without the knowledge of current consumer preferences. As CPG organizations and retailers change their business strategies to keep their customers happy, temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics companies feel additional impact and must also shift their business strategies to provide new value-added services.

Todd Hale, a veteran in the world of consumer research, understands the implications of such trends in consumer preferences. Hale is currently a widely sought-after industry speaker providing insight into consumer shopping, buying and media consumption behaviors. He has more than 37 years of experience in consumer research including 30 years with The Nielsen Company. Join us to learn more about trending consumption behaviors, millennials in the marketplace and the implications of these trends on the supply chain.

Economic Outlook and Impact on your Business

Stephen Moore
Distinguished Visiting Fellow for the Project for Economic Growth – The Heritage Foundation
General Session | Monday, April 24 | 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Stephen Moore, who formerly wrote on the economy and public policy for The Wall Street Journal, is now a Distinguished Visiting Fellow for the Project for Economic Growth at The Heritage Foundation. Moore, who also was a member of The Journal’s editorial board, returned to Heritage in January 2014—about 25 years after his tenure as the leading conservative think tank’s Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Budgetary Affairs from 1984 to 1987.

Moore was previously the founder and president of the Club for Growth, which raises money for political candidates who favor free market economic policies. Moore also founded the Free Enterprise Fund before joining The Wall Street Journal.

Over the years, Moore has served as a senior economist at the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, and as a senior economics fellow at the Cato Institute, where he published dozens of studies on federal and state fiscal policy. During the 2016 campaign, Moore served as a senior economic adviser to Donald Trump, where he worked on tax reform, regulatory reform, and energy policy.

How Shifting Consumer Preferences Shape Food Trends

David Sax
The Tastemakers: Why We’re Crazy for Cupcakes but Fed Up with Fondue
General Session | Tuesday, April 25 | 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

A sophisticated analyst of major consumer shifts, David Sax is also the author of two other fascinating accounts of pop culture and business. In The Tastemakers: Why We’re Crazy for Cupcakes but Fed Up with Fondue, Sax argues that food trends are not only a collection of photos on Instagram— they have an everlasting effect on our culture, workforce, economy, health, and day-to-day lives.

Join this session to hear about major food trends and how they will impact the cold supply chain for logistics providers and food companies.
