GCCA Collaborates with CII to Organize Roundtable Discussion on Food Industry in India

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) is organizing a roundtable featuring Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, on May 10, 2017 in Washington DC.

The Government of India has recently announced a number of measures to help facilitate investments into the Food Processing and Food Retail sectors such as 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) in Food Retail, setting up of mega food parks, which provide all infrastructure facilities, and investment benefits in cold chain. Food processing has been identified as a priority industry by the Government of India and the industry provides opportunities for sourcing from it, absorbing technology and buying machinery as well. It is a good time for food companies to also enter India as the consumer base of India for processed food including dairy, cheese, wines and meat/ poultry. The Ready-To-Eat market is growing at a very fast pace and presents a market with huge opportunities.

While Minister Badal is keen on meeting with companies to discuss opportunities that India offers as a market as well as a sourcing destination, this exclusive roundtable will also give an excellent opportunity to North American companies to discuss directly with Minister Badal the various opportunities available for investment, the government incentives, any challenges that they face as well as partnership opportunities with the Indian food industry.
