Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to participate in the Government Affairs Survey dealing with U.S. federal regulations. Your participation in this short survey will help inform GCCA staff and the Government Affairs Committee about areas where additional programmatic emphasis should be placed to help members comply with U.S. federal regulations.
We have recieved good responses to the survey, but would still like to hear from those of you who have not yet participated. The survey will close on June 5th, so you still have a few days to make sure we receive your input on the current regulatory environment. Individual responses will be kept confidential. Thank you for your assistance in providing important perspectives to help guide our new government affairs program.

Click here to participate in the survey OR visit the GCCA Government Affairs website.

Insurance companies are looking to PRW’s to have a plan in place for the continuation of business should an incident occur at a location and the frozen/cooled product needs to be moved. The plan may include back up power (generators) and a formal agreement for backup power to be provided in the event of power loss. The plan could also include a formal agreement to move product to a frozen area such as a neighboring PRW, refrigerated rail cars, or refrigerated trailers in the event of power loss.

This plan is something that is going to be required in the near future so we urge all IARW members to make sure that they not only have a Continuity Plan but that it is up to date. Our Lockton Loss Prevention Engineer, Bruce White, has put together a beginning template for members to get a start on their Business Continuity Plan if you do not already have one in place. You will want to incorporate many other areas in this plan such as plans for customer communication, shipment diversion, employee information, cell phones, and many other areas which may be specific to your company. Find the template here. As always, call your IARW Insurance Services Team with any questions. Call Connie Phipps at +1 816 960 9946 or cphipps@lockton.com.
