At the IARW-WFLO European Council Meeting held before the European Cold Chain Logistics Education Program & Trade Show in Bucharest, Romania, an historic agreement was reached by the IARW European Council and the European Cold Storage and Logistics Association (ECSLA) to jointly create one new European association of cold store and logistics providers, as well as national associations, to be affiliated with GCCA. The ECSLA board met to discuss and sign a final agreement and the IARW European Council simultaneously endorsed the agreement to be presented for final approval by the IARW and WFLO Boards. Benefiting from the leadership of ECSLA Chairman Wim van Bon and IARW Council Chairman Robert McNamara, this agreement will lead to one strong European organization representing the refrigerated warehouse and logistics industry in Brussels and delivering services throughout the EU. This new organization, retaining the ECSLA name, will be a GCCA Affiliate and be lead by a representative body.

Held 21-22 September, the European Cold Chain Logistics Education Program & Trade Show brought together members of the IARW European Council, members of ECSLA, and industry members from Romania and other Eastern European countries. Delegates benefited from programs on distribution, transportation, facility design, risk management, EU regulations, markets analysis, doing business in Eastern Europe and much more. The official meeting of the IARW European Council was held just prior to the conference and was chaired by Robert McNamara. During the meeting, Paul Shortt was elected as the new Council Chairman.
