GCCA Supports Selection of Ray Starling as White House Ag Policy Advisor

Alexandria, Virginia, March 6, 2017 – The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) applauds the appointment of Ray Starling as Special Assistant to the President for Agriculture, Trade, and Food Assistance. In his White House role, Starling will be President Trump’s chief advisor related to agriculture and trade policy. Agriculture trade is of key concern to all GCCA members that facilitate US exports and food imports from around the world. GCCA members, often positioned on or near ports, are responsible for exporting much of the country’s perishable agriculture food products. Enhanced agriculture trade is critical to growing GCCA members’ business, and strong US trade agreements are important to facilitating that business.

“I have known Ray for more than 20 years, and I can attest that there is no one more qualified to shape US agriculture and trade policy and advocate for our industry,” GCCA President & CEO Corey Rosenbusch said. “His background is rooted deeply in agriculture from his upbringing on a farm in North Carolina to our time served together as Future Farmers of America (FFA) national officers. Our industry is excited to have Ray in this influential position as he will be a tremendous asset to the food and agriculture industry.”

Starling previously served as US Senator Thom Tillis’ (R-N.C.) Chief of Staff. He was also Tillis’ General Counsel and Senior Agriculture Advisor when serving in the North Carolina General Assembly. Starling also spent time at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, serving as their General Counsel. His experience and qualifications position him well to serve America’s food and agriculture industry.

GCCA congratulates Starling on his appointment, and commends the White House on their selection.
