On Thursday, November 1, The Global Cold Chain Alliance held a FSIS roundtable discussion with members at United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to propose solutions that would improve processes and allow for the growth of U.S. protein exports. Corey Rosenbusch, President and CEO of GCCA and Lowell Randel, Vice President of Government and Legal Affairs lead the conversation, along with members that represented 197 facilities that export over 5 billion pounds of protein per year. Individual stories were shared, discussing limitations that the current processes have on their businesses. The Global Cold Chain Alliance proposed the development of a new industry standard template that would address reinspection, staging, and sampling, in hopes to modernize the export process to meet the growing demand of protein worldwide. GCCA looks forward to working with FSIS and industry partners to advance these solutions to improve the export process.
