Cold Connection

Changes to Law Proposed by Ministry of Agriculture Main Focus of Itajai Cold Chain Connection

GCCA Brasil, in conjunction with strategic partner, Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Armazenagem Frigorificada (ABAIF), hosted a Cold Chain Connection on February 21, 2019 at Brasfrigo, an international IARW member.

Cold Chain Connections are educational and networking activities for senior-level cold chain professionals, hosted by the Global Cold Chain Alliance in cities around the world. This event brought together representatives of the region’s cold chain industry and business leaders from São Paulo State, with participants from various companies including: Arfrio, Aurora, Brasfrigo, Elektra, Friozem, Iceport, Martini Meat, Multilog, Portonave, Safrio, Seara and Superfrio.

The main issue addressed at the Cold Chain Connection were changes in the law proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture that could impact the operations of the companies in that region, which is largely responsible for many of the country’s exports. Marcello Petrelli, Advisor to the Board of Directors of Superintendence of Itajai Port, attended the Cold Chain Connection and provided his thoughts on the proposed changes. If operations become affected by the changes, GCCA will provide support to its members during these transitions.

The next Cold Chain Connection is scheduled for July 4, 2019 in Recife, Pernambuco. To read the article in Portuguese, click here.
