FSIS Announces Electronic Export Application Fee Starting June 1, 2019
Starting June 1, 2019, FSIS will assess a fee to exporters that choose to apply for export certificates electronically through the export component of the agency’s Public Health Information System (PHIS). Assessment of the fee will be announced in the Federal Register on April 29, 2019.
FSIS Names New CFO
Cara LeConte has been selected as FSIS’ Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Since 2016, Cara has served as Chief of Staff for FSIS and has acted as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Management. She previously served as the Director of the Financial Management Division and as the Financial Accounting Operations Branch Chief. Cara has 15 years of leadership experience in both the private and public sectors, including 7 years of service in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
FSIS Posts Updated Quarterly Sampling Results
On April 30, 2019, the sampling results for FSIS-regulated products will be updated on the FSIS website. Quarterly, FSIS calculates prevalence, volume weighted percent positive, or percent positive calculations for microbial pathogens in FSIS-regulated products that are currently sampled through existing sampling projects using the prior 12 months of sampling data. Sampling results are available for raw beef, raw pork, raw chicken, raw turkey, processed eggs, and ready-to-eat products and can be viewed at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/data-collection-and-reports/microbiology/sampling-project-results/results.
