The Controlled Environment Building Association (CEBA), a Core Partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), announced Primus Builders as the recipient of the 2020 CEBA Built by the Best Award for their project with Americold Logistics in Savannah, Georgia. The award recipient was unveiled during the Closing General Session of the GCCA Virtual Innovation Program by CEBA Chairman, Vince Free.
“Primus is honored to be recognized by the industry and receive the CEBA Built by the Best Award,” said Michael Cole, Project Manager, Primus Builders. “So proud of the Primus team, our partner – Americold Logistics - and all the CEBA suppliers who worked in partnership to design and construct this innovative facility.”
When the Port of Savannah expanded its space, Americold zeroed in on the opportunity to maximize the benefits of this region. Americold Logistics chose Primus Builders to construct this new poultry import/export facility near the Port of Savannah. At 51-feet, the 312,000-square-foot building is designed to offer maximum flexibility in its cold storage options, which include a -20° QFR quickfreeze system that freezes product faster and more efficiently. The finished project also includes a two story office, a USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) inspection lab that allows inspectors to test the product for spoilage, employee welfare areas, a Quell fire protection system to ensure maximum coverage for the building height, ALTA Expert refrigeration units and automated conveyors, wrapping and labeling stations. As well as integrated an automated component that improves quality, safety, energy savings and building efficiency. In addition, this facility achieved LEED Silver Certification, making it Americold’s first LEED certified facility in the world.
“Grateful for the partnership we have with Primus Builders,” stated John Long - Americold Logistics, Engineering Project Manager. “And thrilled to share our Savannah facility project with the industry through the CEBA Built by the Best Award competition, a great way to showcase all the outstanding work being down by the controlled environment building community.”
