GCCA Europe hosted its first European Warehouse Forum of the year on 17 March. The virtual event brought together nearly 50 cold chain logistics members from fifteen countries across Europe and other regions – see who attended.
The Warehouse Forum is a unique platform for temperature-controlled logistics operators to learn about the latest market developments at country level. Participants could exchange their thoughts on the major challenges the industry is facing and expectations for the coming months.
Key reported issues included increasing pressure from governments and customers to operate more sustainably and reduce carbon emissions. This subject is one of the top priorities set out by the GCCA European Logistics Council, the appointed representative body of GCCA logistics members in Europe, for 2021. Furthermore, recent reports of new cyber-attacks emphasized the importance for the sector to consider this a real, serious threat for temperature-controlled logistics, even more so since the distribution of COVID-19 vaccine started.
While mergers and acquisitions go on in Europe, controlled-environment building and capital investment have to deal with price fluctuations for steel and insulation materials, as well as the upsurge in insurance premiums. At the same time, demand for cutting-edge automation is growing.
If you are interested to participate in the next European Warehouse Forum, save the date on 18-19 November 2021! The Warehouse Forum is complimentary for GCCA operator members. Suppliers and building contractors must sponsor to attend this exclusive meeting. The past forum was sponsored by ISOPAN Insulating Design and Körber Supply Chain, automation experts.
