2025 Women in Cold Chain 1

Vision & Mission:
GCCA's Women in the Cold Chain

GCCA's Women in the Cold Chain Initiative focuses on supporting gender diversity in temperature-controlled warehousing, logistics, transportation, construction, and global development. The purpose of the Women in the Cold Chain is to attract, support, recognize, and advance the talent and success of women, strengthening the cold chain industry.

Bridging the Gender Gap

Women are underrepresented across the global supply chain and logistics sector.

According to Gartner’s 2024 Women in Supply Chain survey, women now make up 40% of the overall supply chain workforce, but imbalance remains.

  • Women hold approximately 30% of director/management roles in supply chain
  • Women hold around 25% of C-suite positions in logistics and transportation-focused companies.
  • In trucking and warehousing operations, women’s participation is often below 15%, underscoring the structural gaps that persist across operational and executive pipelines.

While specific data about the cold chain is difficult to measure, Women in the Cold Chain is designed to address these high-level disparities within our sector through measurable, impactful objectives. Research consistently shows that companies with greater gender diversity in leadership perform better in profitability, innovation, and employee retention. Diverse leadership teams are linked to stronger decision-making, improved risk management, and higher employee engagement scores. In a sector facing ongoing labor shortages and demographic shifts, expanding participation and advancement of women is a smart workforce sustainability strategy.
