The Global Cold Chain Alliance held its annual Cold Chain Policy Forum from June 19-21.  Participants heard gathered in Washington, DC to discuss key policy issues impacting the cold chain industry and had the opportunity to meet with agency leaders from the Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, International Trade Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service.  Sessions also addressed emerging transportation and labor policies and efforts to reduce food loss and waste.  The event culminated with Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA) providing a keynote address on the Farm Bill.  Rep. Feenstra discussed the importance of cold chain infrastructure to trade and how he will be introducing the FRIDGE Act that would add a new focus on cold chain infrastructure in USDA’s trade programs.  GCCA members then traveled to Capitol Hill and met with 30 House and Senate offices to build support for the FRIDGE Act.
