California Department of Agriculture Offering Webinar on Prop 12
Share:
Prop 12 is a California state policy that places minimum space restrictions on animal production practices for pork, veal and egg products intended for sale in California. The rule also applies to distributors of covered products and includes a process for registration and requires designation of Prop 12 compliance status of covered products intended for sale in California, regardless of where they were originally produced. The Constitutionality of Prop 12 was challenged in the courts and the Supreme Court recently issued a ruling that allows Prop 12 to move forward. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is now holding a series of webinars to assist industry in preparing for compliance. On June 14th, a webinar regarding the requirements for distributors will be offered. GCCA members in California, and those who handled covered products destined for California, are encouraged to participate in the webinar to learn more about Prop 12 and any potential compliance requirements.
