September is National Preparedness Month. Established in 2021 by FEMA, National Preparedness Month’s goal is to prepare people for potential disasters, such as extreme weather events. Much of FEMA’s focus is on preparing older adults, specifically those living alone, having low-incomes, and living in rural communities. To promote and raise awareness about National Preparedness Month, FEMA has put together a Social Media Toolkit that organizations and individuals can use, complete with graphics, wording, and other suggestions. Some other important sources of information include, https://www.ready.gov/older-adults (English), and https://www.ready.gov/es/adultos-mayores (Spanish). For a full list of all resources and to learn more, visit the official National Preparedness Month website here.
