Share:
On May 2nd, Congressman Tracey Mann (R-KS) and House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson held a Farm Bill listening session in Kansas. Over 100 representatives from the food and agriculture industry attended the event to discuss priorities for the upcoming Farm Bill. GCCA and GCCF board members Scott Albers and Justin Brandt of Nor-Am Cold Storage participated in the event. Albers spoke about the importance of building cold chain capacity in developing markets to boost U.S. agricultural exports. GCCA has proposed an initiative to establish a Supply Chain Enhancement Program at USDA as a part of the Farm Bill to fund cold chain capacity building and expand U.S. agricultural export opportunities. On May 11th, the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Nutrition, Foreign Agriculture, and Horticulture is scheduled to hold a hearing on “Stakeholder Perspectives on Agricultural Trade.”
