GCCA signs coalition letter in support of the Save Local Business Act (SLBA)

On April 25th, GCCA joined thirty-seven other organizations in signing a letter in support of the Save Local Business Act (SLBA). The SBLA has been introduced to the House and Senate by Representative Comer (R-KY), and Senator Marshall (R-KS). The goal of this legislation is to amend the National Labor Relations Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act to ensure a clear definition of who may be considered a joint employer for an individual employee. The legislation would define employers as those who “directly, actually, and immediately exercise significant control over the essential terms and conditions of employment”. This legislation stands in contrast to the policies proposed under the Protecting Right to Organize (PRO) Act and policies being considered by the Biden Administration. By August of this year, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is set to finalize and incorporate a new rule that would greatly expand who would be considered joint employers.
