GCCA joined in with other representatives of the food and agriculture industry to request that members of Congress co-sponsor a bill officially introduced in the House on May 12 by Representatives GT Thompson (R-PA) and Dwight Evans (D-PA). The “Assistance and Gratitude for Coronavirus Heroes in Agribusiness who are Invaluable to the Nation Act” or the AG CHAIN Act, provides an exclusion from gross income taxes and temporary payroll tax relief to essential food and agriculture workers. Enactment of this legislation would be a tangible way to demonstrate our support for essential food and agriculture workers as they serve the nation during this difficult time while also incentivizing their continued commitment to work. GCCA greatly appreciates the leadership of Representatives Thompson and Evans for introducing the AG CHAIN Act.  This legislation provides recognition and support to essential workers across the food supply chain that play a critical role in feeding the nation.
