On Sunday, October 23, workers on the St. Lawrence Seaway system went on strike. As a federally-regulated sector, the Minister of Labour called for parties to get back to the table, and signaled that he was not willing to use back-to-work legislation. One week later, a tentative deal was struck, which is currently awaiting ratification by union members.
