On September 28th, the Biden Administration held the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.  This the first such conference in over 50 years and is intended to be a springboard to advance the Administration’s goal to “End hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.”    The conference focused on the following five pillars:

  1. Improve food access and affordability
  2. Integrate nutrition and health
  3. Empower all consumers to make and have access to healthy choices
  4. Support physical activity for all
  5. Enhance nutrition and food security research

In conjunction with the conference, the Administration also released a National Strategy with specific actions the federal government will take to drive solutions to these challenges.  GCCA has been engaged with the White House and partners throughout the conference planning process and will continue to engage with the Administration as it works to implement the National Strategy.
