“It is with great honor that GCCF announces this year’s recipient of the 2023 North American Future Leader Award who have exceeded goals, overcame challenges, and demonstrated outstanding skillsets that elevated the cold chain industry performance,” said GCCA Senior Vice President of Global Programs & Insights and Executive Director, Global Cold Chain Foundation (GCCF) Adam Thocher. “Jared has done a terrific job in his role, and GCCF could not be prouder to work with such an entrepreneurial cold chain professional and leader. Let’s take a moment in congratulating Jared.”

The two finalists were:
  • Jared Argabright, Assistant Cold Storage Manager, InterChange Group
  • Katie McElgunn, Sr. Manager, Business Development, United States Cold Storage

Applicants for the award were evaluated by a panel of industry leaders and present during a General Session at the Policy Forum. The North American Future Leader Award Recipient will be eligible to compete against other GCCF future leaders from around the world in the 2023 Global NextGen competition. That award will happen in-person at the GCCA Convention taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona, September 24-27, 2023.

Established in 2015, the North American Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals in North America, who have the potential to become future leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Nominees must demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further in the many facets within the industry, and possess insight into their organization’s strategic values and direction, policies, and ways of working.

The award is named in honor of Donald V. Schlimme, Ph.D, who passed away in 2012 and was a longtime member of the Scientific Advisory Committee (1983-2012) and a Staff Advisor for many of those years. He was an expert in food science and cold storage and was committed to sharing his extensive knowledge.
