Innovators operating or managing cold storage warehouses across the globe are developing intriguing new ways of approaching common industry challenges like human capital, lowering costs, and saving time. The “Cool Innovators” sessions at this year’s IARW-WFLO Convention taking place August 30 – September 2 in Bonita Springs, Fla. promise to provide insights and inspiration.

Increasing Productivity with RFID Technology

Learn how the innovative new warehouse navigation system at the InterChange cold storage facility uses Jungheinrich semi-automated forklifts with embedded RFID chips in the facility floor to track the lift truck’s location, both vertically and horizontally, to within millimeters. The system directs the forklift to the exact next pick location with one push of a toggle; the speed and accuracy of the system, eliminating the need to scan barcodes at each location, has increased productivity over a manual system.
