The Department of Transportation has announced it is opening applications for a second year of grants for the SMART transportation and technology systems. The goal of the grant program is to fund projects/programs that advance smart technologies to improve the US transportation industry by increasing efficiency and safety. The grant program was a started in 2022 after the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure law, and is set to last until 2026. SMART Grant money has been broadly used in the supply chain industry, from reducing crashes via Advanced Driving Systems (ADS), reduce port gate congestion/congestion in general, improve infrastructure resilience from environmental conditions, and support local economies via curb management (freight pickup and drop-off) technologies.
