AGRO Merchants Group, a global leader in cold storage and logistics solutions, today announced the acquisition of Cold Land SGPS SA from funds affiliated with Inter-Risco, a premier Portuguese private equity firm, and Portugal Ventures, a venture capital and private equity firm. Cold Land is the parent company of Frissul and Frigomato, which together offer 303,200 cubic meters of storage capacity or the equivalent of 55,700 pallet positions, making it the leading cold storage operator in Portugal and a key player in the Iberian Peninsula. This latest acquisition for AGRO expands its footprint in a key strategic region and significantly broadens its capabilities and service offerings throughout the food supply chain. The current management team, led by CEO Afonso Almeida, will continue to lead the business in Portugal.

Founded in 1979 as a family owned business, Doboy has grown into one of the most successful cold storage operators in Australia. Doboy operates out of two sites located near the Port of Brisbane and maintains a diverse product mix that includes meats, seafood, fruit, nuts and bakery items. Its extensive experience and relationships will enhance AGRO’s global service offering for its customers. Nordic Logistics and Warehousing, a proud member of AGRO Merchants Group, announced plans to develop a new cold storage and repack facility in Savannah, Georgia, USA. In April 2016, AGRO and Nordic completed a 200,000 square-foot expansion to their existing Savannah facility, representing the second investment in the market. The new facility, which will initially be built to 175,00 square feet, will be adjacent to current Nordic site with additional land available for future expansion. Continue reading
AGRO Merchants Group began development in February of a 9,000 square meter temperature-controlled warehouse, located in the Port of Rotterdam on the Maasvlakte.
