GCCA, Industry Allies Request Extension on OSHA Walkaround Rule Change

GCCA along with 73 other industry allies have requested a 60-day extension to the comment period for OSHA’s proposed rule change on its worker walkaround representative designation process. The rule change was announced in August of 2023, and proposed to resurrect an Obama-era policy which allows employees to select third-party representatives to accompany OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Offices on walkaround inspections. The 60-day extension period is needed to ensure that businesses and organizations have enough time to analyze the changes and deliver informed comments to OSHA before the implementation of the rule.
