The House Education and the Workforce Committee’s Subcommittee on Workforce Protections will hold a hearing on OSHA’s purported regulatory “overreach and skewed priorities” on Wednesday, July 24. Subcommittee Chair Kevin Kiley (R-CA) announced the hearing, stating, “It is critical that OSHA acknowledges and implements feedback from employers and job creators who are impacted by its top-down mandates to ensure its policies are practicable in the field. We must ensure that any new regulations do not overburden the regulated community with prescriptive mandates… This hearing will allow the Committee to hold Biden’s OSHA accountable to ensure the agency is fulfilling its duty without harming job creators and workers.”
One example of recent overreach is the agency’s worker walkaround final rule, which GCCA and others in industry have opposed. GCCA welcomes the committee’s oversight of OSHA and looks forward to working alongside our partners to address regulatory overreach.
