From September 30 to October 12, GCCF technical experts and GCCA staff will travel to Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Senegal to conduct a series of meetings and site visits with key cold chain stakeholders in West Africa. The purpose of this trip is to better understand the challenges and opportunities for the cold chain industry in the region so the Foundation can address these observations with training, mentorship, consultations, and other educational programs.

Following this trip, GCCF will host a series of virtual workshops to summarize our findings and share proposed next steps for the project. The GCCF team will solicit feedback from local operators and other key stakeholders in each country to ensure that the training and educational programs meet the needs of the region. With funding from the US Department of Agriculture’s Emerging Markets Program, the Foundation will organize a series of virtual and in-person training courses, with topics identified through the assessment and workshops. GCCF will also connect select operators in West Africa with international mentors in GCCA’s membership to provide personalized advice to local players. Lastly, GCCF will facilitate a regional study tour, bringing West African operators to South Africa to meet with warehouses, transportation providers, suppliers, and other relevant organizations.
