Coalition for a Democratic Workplace Advances Labor Policy Issues
Share:
The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW), of which GCCA is a member, recently sent a letter to the House of Representatives urging them to include the joint employer and electronic union voting policy riders in the FY25 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill. The riders prohibit the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from using appropriated funds to implement electronic voting in union representation elections and the joint employer final rule.
CDW also filed an amicus brief before the District Court for the Western District of Texas in Chamber of Commerce of the United States, et al. v. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, et al., a case that challenges OSHA’s final rule governing the worker walkaround representative designation process. OSHA’s final rule allows third parties to accompany OSHA safety and health officers on facility inspections, despite significant concerns raised by the Coalition for Workplace Safety and 74 other employer organizations warning OSHA about the consequences of this policy change. The amicus brief highlights that the rule far exceeds OSHA’s statutory authority and directly conflicts with the National Labor Relations Act.
