August 19, 2026 – The Global Cold Chain Alliance commends the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on its announcement of $7.5 million in grant funding through the “Cold Chain Grants for Emergency Food Assistance Program (CCG)”, which will help food assistance organizations invest in cold storage and distribution infrastructure for fresh, frozen, and minimally processed foods.

“The GCCA and our Global Cold Chain Foundation have been dedicated to this exact work for over 20 years. This new investment in cold chain infrastructure means more of America’s high-quality food products can reach families who need them most,” said Sara Stickler, President and CEO of GCCA. “We thank USDA for recognizing that access to food starts with the infrastructure to store and deliver it. The GCCA and GCCF continue our work in supporting food banks, our warehouse members, and industry stakeholders as they invest in the cold chain and prioritize food waste reduction. We look forward to partnering with other organizations to implement this important program.”

Applications are due October 1, 2026. For more information, visit USDA’s CCG website.
