GCCA, Industry Allies Request Extension to Overtime Pay Rule Change Comment Period

GCCA along with 106 other industry allies sent a letter to the Department of Labor, asking for an extension of the comment period to its newly proposed overtime pay changes. The letter was sent through the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO) organization. The proposed rule would increase the minimum salary threshold by 55%, and provide for automatic updates to the minimum salary threshold every three years. The letter asks the DOL to extend the public comment time for the rule by 60 days, which is currently set to end on November 7th. Industry believes that 60 days is not enough time for the regulated community to fully understand the proposed changes. The additional 60 days of comment time will also benefit the Wage and Hour Division of the DOL, as they will be able to receive more and higher quality comments, questions, and suggestions from the regulated community.
