On August 23rd, the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) was joined by industry partners in sending a letter to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees urging their support for including the Fortifying Refrigeration Infrastructure and Developing Global Exports Act of 2023 (“FRIDGE Act”) in the next Farm Bill.  H.R. 4216, the FRIDGE Act, was introduced in the House on July 13th by Representatives Feenstra (R-IA), Mann (R-KS), Costa (D-CA) and Carbajal (D-CA). In the Senate, Senators Braun (R-IN) and Fetterman (D-PA) introduced S. 2570 as companion legislation. The Agriculture Committees are busy working on reauthorizing the Farm Bill.  Current authorities expire at the end of September.  It is expected that a short-term extension will be needed to give the committees sufficient time to finalize the legislation.
