March11Uzbekistan 004Below is a list of just some of the projects completed in the region over the last five years through the research and education am of GCCA, The World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO).

Kyrgyzstan: Local Development Project

As a subcontractor to Chemonics International, WFLO sent a cold storage engineer to Kyrgyzstan to conduct site visits for 8-10 cold storage facilities in eastern and southern Kyrgyzstan, as well as make recommendations on how to improve operations and/or through retrofitting or purchase of new equipment.

Uzbekistan: Agricultural Linkages Project

USAID’s AgLinks Plus takes holistic “value-chain” approach in promoting F&V and will expand coverage to 26 districts in six provinces (including to Andijan, Bukhara, and Tashkent). Throughout the project life cycle, WFLO will contribute primarily to the technical areas of cold chain identification, strengthening, optimizing, training and capacity building. Innovative leaders in the temperature-controlled products industry, WFLO will be an integral and important part of the team. It is anticipated that WFLO will provide the following short-term support under this program:

Uzbekistan: Cold Storage Consultancy

WFLO was hired by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Uzmarkazimpex, a state owned enterprise, to assess potential sites for the construction and operations of 6 new cold storage facilities.  The facilities are to be financed and operated by foreign investors.  The WFLO team conducted the site assessments,  proposed business models, and provided draft drawings which were included in the investment prospectus for the projects.
