On January 25th, Frank Yiannis informed Commissioner Califf that he will be resigning his position as Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Food Policy and Response effective February 24. “Despite the unprecedented challenges we’ve all faced (a global pandemic, unparalleled food supply chain disruptions, and more), working together, we weathered the storm and accomplished a lot.” Deputy Commissioner Yiannis said his resignation letter, which you can read HERE. His resignation comes as FDA is considering other structural changes after commissioning a study on how the agency administers its food programs.  Additional announcements on the structure and leadership of FDA’s food programs are expected in the coming weeks.
