Minister Wilkinson Announces New Program to Support Decarbonization of Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing to Maximize Energy Performance and Industry Competitiveness

Canadian Minister of Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson made an announcement on February 10th titled; New Program to Support Decarbonization of Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing to Maximize Energy Performance and Industry Competitiveness. The program will offer cost-shared financial assistance to support industrial energy efficiency in two tracks:
Track 1: Energy Efficiency Solutions, for provinces, territories, and utilities and other eligible recipients with sufficient capacity and experience, as well as well-established industrial networks.The Energy Efficiency Solutions track supports the industrial energy efficiency initiatives undertaken by those entities that align with Government of Canada objectives. The Energy Efficiency Solutions track will offer funding:
Up to 100% of total eligible implementation costs to a maximum of $20 million per proposal to provincial-territorial and other governments or their departments and agencies, as well as Indigenous and registered not-for-profit organizations.
Up to 75% of total eligible implementation costs to a maximum of $20 million per proposal to private sector for-profit organizations (such as utilities, consulting firms, training institutes, industry associations). This includes the combined funding from other Canadian government sources.
Track 2: Industrial Facility track, for all industrial sectors and facility sizes, with a focus on filling gaps in reach and coverage across regions, sectors, and activities.The Industrial Facility track provides direct-to-industry support to help implement energy efficiency and energy management solutions within their respective facilities.
This year’s call for proposals for Track 1 is now open to receive proposals and will close by March 31, 2023. Track 2 will begin accepting proposals in Spring 2023.
