On January 10th, GCCA participated in a conference discussing international food systems. The event featured a great line-up of sessions including Mari Pangestu, Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships, and Dr Jewel Bronaugh, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, as well as a presentation of our latest polling of US consumer attitudes to food policy. Ramin Toloui, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, U.S. Department of State was pictured with GCCA’s Coordinator of Government Affairs. Topics of discussion were:

  • The outlook for U.S. food diplomacy
  • How can the international community foster food system resilience?
  • What are the policy solutions to address global food risks?
  • Trade policy and improving access to food
  • Contrasting American attitudes to food policy to global counterparts on technology in food, food trade, food standards and subsidy in farming

A recording of the conference will be made available in due course. In the meantime, read the Global Council team’s take on the programme themes and watch a webinar unpacking the outcome of their survey of consumer attitudes to food policy in much greater depth.
