The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a scheduling notice for an informal public hearing on its Emergency Response Standard proposed rule, which was released in February and would replace the existing Fire Brigades standard. Earlier this month, OSHA extended the comment period on the proposed rule until July 22nd.

The public hearing will be held virtually on November 12, 2024, at 9:30am ET. Links to the meeting and materials will be posted on OSHA’s Emergency Response page. . To testify or question other witnesses at the hearing, interested persons must electronically submit a Notice of Intention to Appear to OSHA on or before September 27, 2024.

GCCA is monitoring this closely and is engaged with industry partners and the Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy regarding the rule. SBA’s Office of Advocacy has created an Emergency Response fact sheet and has submitted comments to DOL highlighting concerns with the proposal.
