The Global Cold Chain Foundation (GCCF) is actively engaged in international projects to develop the cold chain around the world. Since beginning international development projects in 2002, GCCF has successfully completed over 130 projects in 72 countries. GCCF carries out feasibility studies, association development, training and education programs, and construction advisory projects with a variety of public, private, and multilateral institutions around the world.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group and is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in developing countries. From 2019 to 2024, the TechEmerge Sustainable Cooling Innovation Program played a central role in accelerating this progress by testing and validating climate-smart cooling technologies. Through more than 100 pilot projects, TechEmerge generated robust evidence on technology performance, costs, business models, and real-world conditions that enable innovations to move beyond demonstration toward scale. As TechEmerge transitions into a public good, its evidence, tools, and innovation pipeline are now being made openly accessible to governments, companies, and financiers to support wider uptake and replication.

Join this webinar with IFC on Wednesday, July 8th at 11 AM ET for:

  • A review of GCCF’s cold chain development activities and Food Waste Reduction Initiative.
  • Lessons learned for innovations in cold chain, captured by TechEmerge in its evaluation report.
  • An introduction to the database of innovators available to the market.
  • A discussion on private-sector led cold chain development, innovations and business models in emerging markets.
