Senior Vice President Adam Thocher will frame the state of Africa's cold chain and introduce the conference theme: It's Time for Dialogue, followed by regional insights from GCCA Africa Chairman Dr. Newton Matope. Elevating the session to the global stage, GCCA President & CEO Sara Stickler will deliver opening remarks on the overarching global landscape and defining the international priorities shaping the future of the temperature-controlled supply chain industry.
Using a live audience poll, delegates will share their immediate priorities and challenges. The Chairman will deliver a live, reactive response to these results on stage, followed by a facilitated Q&A session open to the floor. Come ready to shape the conversation from day one.

Scaling Africa's Cold Chain: An Integrated Logistics Perspective on Public-Private Collaboration
Mohammed Mahomedy, Head of Infrastructure & Rail for Africa, DP World
Mohammed Mahomedy will explore how integrated logistics, rail connectivity and public-private collaboration can help strengthen Africa’s cold chain. Drawing on DP World’s experience across ports, terminals, inland logistics, warehousing and freight forwarding, he will examine the importance of connecting production areas, inland hubs, trade gateways and end markets.
The session will highlight how coordinated infrastructure investment, resilient logistics networks and stronger collaboration can improve the movement of temperature-sensitive cargo, expand market access and support scalable cold chain solutions across the continent.

Postharvest losses represent one of the most pressing challenges facing the fresh produce industry — and one of the most solvable. This session brings together researchers and industry practitioners to examine the cold chain's role in reducing food loss, strengthening food security, and unlocking new business opportunities.
Panelists will share case studies spanning postharvest research, food rescue, and emerging cold chain opportunities, offering diverse perspectives on where the industry can take action. Structured peer dialogue and Q&A close the session — giving delegates practical insights and at least one new connection relevant to their business.
