With the unemployment rate hovering below 4% finding people to staff your warehouse has become a very challenging task.

Employers can build a valuable workforce that will help meet the challenges of a shrinking, less skilled labor pool, as well as effectively address many societal problems plaguing the local community by systematically recruiting, hiring, and onboarding those who have traditionally been overlooked, the “at risk” worker. An at-risk worker is, or has been previously incarcerated, homeless, generationally poor, a single parent on welfare, a veteran , or socially, racially, or economically disadvantaged.

2:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Afternoon Break
2:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Deep Lane Radio Shuttle Systems

  • Tim Siddiq, President and CEO, Merchandise Warehouse Co., Inc.

While a large racking system allows for greater storage capacity, it can also make it more difficult to effectively retrieve pallets. To combat this challenge, Merchandise Warehouse Co. developed the partially automated Radio Shuttle Racking System for transporting and retrieving pallets to and from a high-density 33 pallets deep lane racking system. This added 14,000 pallet positions of storage capacity to their recently-opened Indianapolis facility.

3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. LEAN Cold Operations

  • J.P. Joei, Managing Director, Argent Productivity Optimization

This session will provide you an overview as well as some of the key initiatives of a LEAN program. As we face the challenge of operating more efficiently and more cost effectively, many cold operations are turning to LEAN to drive productivity, control operational and labor costs, compete more aggressively and maintain their leading position in their respective markets.

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Emotional Intelligence @ Work – Part 1

  • Michelle Gladieux, President, Gladieux Consulting

Don’t miss this presentation by executive coach, trainer and professor Michelle Gladieux, President of Gladieux Consulting, an Indiana team with loyal clients around the nation.

Michelle will pull examples from decades of coaching decision-makers to use emotional intelligence in their speaking, listening and leading. With each tip, you’ll reflect on how you
interact with others daily.

When emotional intelligence gained attention in 1995, it was the missing link in a peculiar finding: people with average IQs outperform those with the highest IQs approximately 70% of the time. This finding threw a wrench into the assumption that IQ was the sole source of success. Two decades of research now point to emotional intelligence as the “it” factor that sets top performers apart.

This presentation is a fun, fast-paced, impactful look at what makes a successful person shine. Our guest speaker loves what she does, and it shows. Join us to turn up your EQ.
