In 2014, GCCF partnered with the University of California Davis to complete 8 cold storage studies in Tanzania, Ghana, Honduras, Guatemala, and Thailand in collaboration with Horticulture Innovation Lab affiliated professionals in Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America to determine the performance efficiency of the Zero Energy Cool Chamber (ZECC) compared to ambient air storage under a variety of combinations of high/low temperatures and high/low relative humidity conditions. The project also conducted solar drying studies in 8 sites to determine the performance efficiency of the UCD chimney dryer compared to the traditional indirect solar cabinet dryer.
